Split face slides in Royal Beige
Marble mosaics in the slides design, long narrow strips on mesh, with a split face rather than a sawn one. Sheets measure 11 by 17 inches at half an inch thick, four to a box for 5.16 square feet. Samples are available.
Design
Relief across a sheet
Splitting the stone instead of sawing it leaves each strip standing at its own depth, so the sheet has real relief and throws shadow across itself as the light moves. Slides are long narrow pieces laid in an offset stack, which gives the shadows a direction to run in. Royal Beige is a warm stone and the split face brings out the grain that a honed finish would smooth away. A stone enhancer rather than a plain sealer is listed with it, which deepens the colour instead of leaving it flat.

Where to use it
Rated right through the house
Interior floors and walls in homes and in commercial settings, bath floors and walls, shower walls and floors, backsplash and light residential traffic are all recorded, with bathroom, kitchen and living room as the rooms. Marble tile backsplash work is where a split face earns its keep, since the surface sits at eye level rather than underfoot. Fourteen boxes make 60 square feet. It is not rated frost resistant, which keeps the work indoors.

Care
Seal after installation and reseal every one to two years. A textured surface holds cleaning product in its hollows, so rinse properly and use a pH neutral stone cleaner.
