The familiar 3x6 in this white
Fina is the 3x6 ceramic accent tile in the Cloud White group, the size most people picture when they think of a tiled splashback. Forty pieces fill a box and cover 4.8 square feet, the most efficient box of the whole family.
Design
A size that behaves
There is a reason this format has lasted. It runs in a stack, a half offset or a herringbone without argument, and cuts land in predictable places. The glaze is a flat fired white with rounded edges and a 3/8 inch body, matching the larger sizes made in the same colour so a border can change scale without changing tone. Nothing about the size is fashionable or unfashionable, which is part of why it keeps turning up in kitchens.
Layout friendly
Stack, offset or herringbone all work from the same box.
Shared colour
4x7 1/2 in this white lets a scheme move between scales.
Where to use it
Kitchen splashbacks
Backsplash is the usage recorded, kitchen the room. A splashback is where cutting matters most, around sockets and switches and under a hood, and ceramic tiles score and snap without a wet saw for the majority of those cuts. Coverage runs 0.12 square feet a piece and 4.8 a box, so 60 square feet with 15 percent for waste needs 15 boxes.
